In the midst of sold out tours and recording their sophomore record, Cage The Elephant‘s unrelenting love of music and community has come together in the shape of a music festival, right in their hometown of Bowling Green, KY. And thus, another impressive creative endeavor in Cage The Elephant‘s career has come to fruition: The band recently announced the First Annual International music festival called Starry Nights Music Festival happening on October 1st and October 2nd.
The festival will have 2 stages playing non-stop, back-to-back sets on Friday and Saturday. Cage The Elephant will be headlining on Friday night, and were personally asked by Daniel Johnston to be his backing band for his set on Saturday night.
Cage The Elephant have long been great supporters and purveyors of the music of their peers, and constantly seek out great new music coming out of communities and scenes all over the world. With Starry Nights Festival, they aim to provide both new and established bands an organic, artist-centric platform for their music.
There is an impressive line-up curated by the band themselves, including Ghostland Observatory, Daniel Johnston, Freelance Whales, The Ettes, Frontier Ruckus and Bowling Green’s own Sleeper Agent and Morning Teleportation. For a town of 54,000 people, Cage The Elephant are bringing international talent to a town that doesn’t normally see events on this scale. Cage The Elephant are extremely excited and proud to welcome the artists to their hometown for a 2 days & nights of music, created by artist for artists with no sign of corporate sponsors.
